Client: International Construction Firm (Name Confidential)
Location: Large Excavation Pit / Infrastructure Project
Equipment Used: SANG 32" & 40" Wall Saw Blades, (4) Wall Saw Machines
Method: Water-Fed Cutting
In a demanding international reconstruction project, SANG concrete wall saw blades were deployed to execute a massive concrete cutting scope. The operation required the removal and modification of a 2-kilometer retaining wall situated within a deep excavation pit, demonstrating the blades' endurance and precision under continuous use.
Total Volume: 2 km linear cutting
Material: Reinforced Concrete Retaining Wall
Wall Thickness: 15.75 inches (400mm)
Wall Height: 26 feet (7.9 meters)
Reinforcement: Heavy-Duty Rebar with a tight 10-inch internal grid spacing.
The primary technical challenge was the dense rebar matrix. With a 10-inch grid, the blades were in constant contact with heavy steel reinforcement. This level of rebar typically generates extreme heat, increases segment wear, and risks segment loss or blade deformation if the bond is not optimized.
Additionally, operating four machines simultaneously inside a deep pit required logistics for water delivery (for dust suppression and cooling) and slurry management.
The customer utilized a combination of 32" and 40" SANG wall saw blades.
Performance: The blades were engineered with a specific metal bond matrix capable of handling the aggressive abrasion from the concrete and the heat/impact from the thick rebar.
Efficiency: Running four machines simultaneously with water-fed systems allowed the team to maintain high production rates to meet the 2 km deadline.
Durability: Despite the heavy rebar exposure, the SANG blades provided consistent cutting speeds and a long operational life, reducing the frequency of change-outs in the confined pit environment.
"The volume of rebar in this 15.75-inch wall was intense. We needed blades that could stand up to constant steel without glazing or cracking. The SANG 32" and 40" blades delivered consistent performance across the entire 2 km stretch, allowing our four saws to keep moving without downtime. A solid performance for a tough international job."
