Project: Critical Infrastructure Modification
Location: Active Airport Mechanical Room (Client Name Withheld)
Challenge: The client required the removal of three heavy, steel-encased vibration-duty foundations within an active airport mechanical room. The facility’s operational status meant that impact demolition, noise spikes, and structural guesswork were strictly prohibited. Traditional jackhammers or breaking equipment posed a risk to sensitive airport systems and adjacent operational equipment.
Solution:
Our client executed a highly controlled wire sawing and hydraulic blade cutting operation to eliminate vibration and maintain facility uptime.
Wire Saw Cutting: Executed 173 linear feet of wire sawing to segment the three massive foundations into 12 manageable blocks for safe rigging and removal.
Hydraulic Sawing: Utilized low-profile hydraulic blade saws to reduce two low-clearance pads into approximately 110 hand-removal pieces (split into two groups of 50 and 60 pieces) to navigate tight egress paths.
Outcome:
Wire saw cutting zero vibration-related incidents, no noise violations, and precise removal of heavily reinforced foundations without disrupting active airport operations.
